Chapter 7

I got home a little after three to find Cypher on the couch in the living room, working on his laptop.

“Hey, man,” he said in greeting as he closed the lid and placed the computer on the table. “Good day?”

“Oh, sure.” I leaned my bicycle against the wall and set my messenger bag beside it. “It was the usual, you know? Complaints about people using the machine too long or the water in the shower isn’t hot enough. My personal favorite was when a member wanted to know if I could wash his jockstraps as a personal favor to him, wink, wink.”

Cypher snickered. “Oh, man, no way.”

“You don’t know the half of it. I’ve seen and heard some weird shit at that place.” I sat beside him. “You go anywhere today? Just so I know where not to take you while we do our tour.”

“Nope, been saving it all up for the pleasure of your company.”

His wide grin and sly wink made me laugh.

“Right, whatever. Give me a minute to change into something else, and then we’ll head out.”
