Chapter 21

“So it may as well be later, then, since it doesn’t matter when you find out.”

Matt shook his head and chuckled. He didn’t have anything to say to that.

James looked at him sideways before saying, “Not used to someone using your fine logic against you?” James mocked him humorously, his eyes dancing.

“I just really hate surprises,” Matt mumbled and stared out the window.

He let James’ rich belly laugh wash over him and settled back happily, reveling in having James’ attention. A comfortable silence stretched between them, with the soothing background noise of rock music from the radio filling the air. “We got a few amazing action shots of you in the pool.”

James craned his neck to check his blind spot before doing a lane change and taking the opportunity to study Matt’s face for a moment.

“Did we now? You have fun studying each of them?”
