Chapter 87

Everyone just needed to leave him the fuck alone and let him deal with this goddamn shit storm on his own. The city was flying past him as he stared out the window, the streets still bustling, even at 3:30 in the morning. He absently rearranged his sitting position, trying to find a more comfortable position. Turns out, there wasn’t one.

Matt was next to him, and he could feel his eyes boring into him. He appreciated his brother’s restraint at not reaching out and just letting him be, but the heavy silence in the car was deafening everyone. Coach was quietly speaking to Jake in the front in hushed tones and he just wanted to bolt out of the car, away from everyone as soon as he could.
