Chapter 28

Not two seconds after Jax questioned his neighbor’s whereabouts, the apartment door whisked open. Auggie trotted inside. He was wearing yellow shorts and a white T-shirt. Italian sandals were strapped over his feet. Jax thought he looked well-rested and excited because of the smile on his face.

“We’re running late,” he told Jax.

“You’rerunning late,” Jax corrected.

Auggie ignored him, changed the subject, and asked, “Is it ever going to stop raining?”

“Twelve hours and counting, my friend. Let’s talk while we walk to your Beamer.”
