Chapter 16

Hal yawned. He’d had too much to drink, too much excitement, and it was almost two in the morning. “Fuck it,” he said, making two jaws drop open in shock. Hal never swore. “Get out of here. Go to bed. Sleep, or whatever. Dismissed.”

Before they left, however, one kid said haughtily, “I did nothing wrong. Don’t blame me for anything.”

Hal said, “If God loved a liar, he’d squeeze you to death.” And he left.

Upstairs, he discovered his wife occupying three fourths of the bed, sound asleep, and a pile of kittens on what little space was left. 5: Next Morning
