Chapter 25

“You really areall nerves. Anything I can do?”

“Not at the moment and definitely not here.” Leslie grinned at him.

Somewhere in the last hour, the scenery had changed to one of small hills and dales dotted with bracken and rock. Pocket-sized villages appeared in the distance, then vanished, as the train zigged and zagged along the rails. Dark clouds hid the sun, but rays managed to escape now and then and bathed the rugged terrain in a reddish hue.

“You’ve had one of your little trips down memory lane, haven’t you?” Edward asked, finishing his tea and coming over to sit next to Leslie.

“You know me well. I’m embarrassed…no, afraid to tell you—”
