Chapter 28

“That’s more like it.” Edward pecked Leslie on the cheek, drawing him near. “Now. What’s really bothering you?”

“How is it you can always tell?”

“Knowing you as I do, it’s a snap.” Edward ran a hand down Leslie’s smooth skin to his groin. “Also, nothing’s happening down there. Dead giveaway.”

“It’s that damnable woman, Bertie’s aunt or cousin or whatever she is. She got under my skin.”

“Mine, too. I wondered when you’d broach the subject. You hardly said a word at dinner. Thought you were upset, angry at me.”

Leslie nestled in closer, kissed his partner gently on the lips, and opened his mouth, promising more. “And why should you think such a…oh, the complaining thing.”

Edward smiled as he nodded.

“You know me well.” Leslie fiddled with his pillow, punched it a couple of times, and then pulled the comforter up to their shoulders.

Edward huffed and puffed somewhat. “I’m waiting. What’s on your mind?”
