“Can I come by this evening? I have some news I need to run by you.”
“Sure. What kind of news?”
I hesitated. “What would you think if I were on stage in front of an orchestra, playing a concerto?”
“Oh, Chris! Where? When?”
“I can’t answered either of those questions but I need to hear what you think.”
“Okay, come for dinner. I’ll see you tonight.”

I passed Judith as I walked up the stairs.
“I hope you’re hungry. I made enough for an army.”
“Of what?” I asked, but Judith continued down the stairs without answering.
“Hi,” I called, when I walked onto the terrace.
“Come try this. It’s really good.”
I walked over and gave her a kiss. As I did, I glanced down at her plate.
There was spaghetti with a red sauce with meatballs, and pieces of sausage. There were also lumps in the sauce that looked like pieces of vegetables.
I sat down across from her and forked a big portion of it onto my plate.
“Are you that hungry?” Car asked.
