“I bought it earlier and stashed it in my room,” he said. “It’s the least I can do, seriously, but I got the feeling you wouldn’t let me buy it for you if we met up like usual.” Carlo held up the bottle. “Knight’s Reward, like I said. You’ve earned it.”

Wes didn’t know what to say. He was cautious, but he didn’t want to be heartless and completely disregard this sweet gesture. “Thank you,” he said. It was the only thing that came to mind, other than, “You really didn’t have to,” and “I’m not sure what I want from you anymore.”

“Do you want to sit by Bee Folks again?”
