Chapter 9

Saturday rolled around, and with it, a torrential rainstorm—putting the kibosh on Jonah’s plans to go running, as he told Byron when he called to see what time Byron wanted him there for dinner.

“So hit up the workout room,” Byron suggested. “I’m going to, once I finish cleaning house.”

“How much cleaning can there be? You’ve only lived in it for a week.”

“From the amount of dust…”

“Yeah, I know.” Jonah nodded. “The joys of living in a dry climate.”

“Umm, have you looked outside?”

“Okay, I’ll amend that to a usually dry climate. How long before you’re finished?”

“If you’re asking because you want to join me working out, say around one?”

“I’ll see you then.”
