Spent and sticky in the sun, we decided to jump into the Gulf to clean the sex scent from our perspiration-covered torsos.

While we soaked in the saltwater, he asked, “What are your plans for this afternoon, Axle?”

“A book signing and Long Island Iced Teas at Barnum’s Booktuary. Would you like to go with me?”

He knew very little, if anything at all, about novelists, writing, or bookstores. That didn’t mean I could label him a complete idiot, though.
