Josh places a hand on Eddie’s knee.
Eddie taps Josh’s hand with his and raises his red-rimmed eyes, holding Josh’s stare. “I’m fine.”
“Can I get you another drink?”
In a no-thank-you wave, Eddie asks, “So, what’s your story?”
Josh shrugs and places his dinner plate on the old wooden wine crate he uses for a coffee table. “What do you want to know?”
“Where’re you from?”
“Gordonville, born and raised. My parents moved to Minneapolis three years ago for work. I wanted a slower, quieter life so I stayed here.” He paused. “I don’t drive either.”
Eddie smiles. “Do you like working at the movie theater?” He lays the guitar on the floor beside him and pulls his legs into his chest, rocking back and forth, eyeing Josh impishly.
“It works for now.”
Eddie winks at him. “Free movies.”
“The only perk of the job.”
“I could live with that.”
Josh sips his drink.
Eddie asks, “Do you get along with your co-workers?”
