Chapter 46

Nikoloz winced as Vincent sponged off the furrow with hydrogen peroxide. “The bubbles taste like sardines.”

“I see you’re still tripping, partner.”

“Catch the gauze before it wiggles away. Yes, Vikushka, I am still high.”

“I can’t believe I was rescued by a ten-year-old kid and a man on an acid trip.”

Billy spoke up. “I’m supposed to tell you I didn’t have any sleep bombs. I got kidnapped and Mr. Donauri rescued all of us.”

“Probably a good idea. Our employers might not look too kindly on my partner for giving you a weapon.”

Margaret sat up, rubbing her wrists. She’d been tied longer than Vincent. Her arms must ache abominably. She spotted Nikoloz and let out a shriek. “They killed you! I saw them shoot you. Twice.”

“I had knock-out pellets loaded.” Nikoloz gave her a bleary glance, then winced again as Vincent pulled the edges of the furrow together and taped a line of gauze pads over the wound. “That hurt, Vikushka.”
