Chapter 32

“From what I remember some old geezer in one of the shops telling me, a while back, there was originally a fort here, back in the mid-eighteen hundreds. The town grew up around it.”

“So old, but not by eastern standards.”

“Yep.”

They continued strolling along the tree-lined street, stopping occasionally to comment on something they saw in a shop window. All the while, Dylan was acutely aware of the man walking beside him. I want him. In my bed—hell yes. In my life…I think. Of course he might not be interested in anything more than a bed partner, despite what he’d sort of hinted. I can deal with that. Not like I haven’t been in short-term relationships before. Too many times to count—before and after Tommy. I like sex. I’ve told him so. He knows what he’s getting if we do fall into bed. But I would be faithful, if we started something. I would!

“Penny for your thoughts,” Mars said.

“Just…wondering where to go eat. I’m hungry after all this walking.”
