Dale heaved a deep breath and stared down at the wood grain of the table. Was this something he could do? Before, he would have said no, but having her do that thing that had made him able to sense the magic items had changed his mind. He let his vision lose focus and tried to find a quiet spot in his head. The image that popped into his thoughts was of him wrapped around Riadh. Jesus, Riadh really had become his solace in a lot of ways lately. Was he falling in love with the djinn? Something he had thought would never happen again after Colin. He couldn’t do this. Not right now. “I need to take a walk. There’s too much crap flying around inside my head at the moment.” He stood up from the table.
“Take your time. I’ve got chores to do,” Summer replied.
“Do you want company, or do you need to be alone?” Riadh asked.
“Alone. I’ll only be gone fifteen or twenty minutes. I just need a breather.
