Chapter 16

Archimedes slowly removed his gloves and steepled his fingers. “How many people did you see?”

“Two men. One is in his mid-thirties, a white guy, well built, and looks like maybe he works out, kinda hot, too. The second one is a little younger, thinner, middle eastern I think, although he has no accent so I would guess he was raised in this country.”

“Good. Thank you. If you could leave a sketch of what you saw in terms of room layout?”

“Of course.”

He said, “You may keep the keys if you like. I’m sure you can find a use for them.”

Vanessa raised an eyebrow. She had an uneasy feeling. Archimedes knew full well she could steal damn near anything, but he seemed unduly focused on the men. The mage also knew she didn’t do wet-work. Somebody was probably going to die and she felt vaguely guilty, but it wasn’t her problem
