Larry really didn’t look forward to the end of the semester. When classes ended, the dorms emptied out, and Geoff would head home. This time, Larry wasn’t going, too; he’d decided to stay in the attic room with Doug, find a summer job, and see if he couldn’t start to slowly break away from his parents. Become more independent. At first he thought his mother would balk at the idea, but to his surprise, she was all for it—apparently she’d booked a cruise to celebrate her fiftieth birthday and hadn’t known how to tell Larry he’d be on his own for most of the summer anyway. So his staying with Doug worked out well.
The only problem would be having to spend time apart from Geoff.
