Chapter 4

It was very spacious, with hints of his personality and obsession with the color purple everywhere. One side of the space was devoted to costumes and feather boas, which made me smile.

The pillows, curtains, throws…everything had a shade of purple or something complementary to it.

I followed him to the kitchen and sat in a chair at the table.

“What do you like for breakfast, normally?” he asked. Lucius had removed his scarf and hung it on the back of another chair before pushing up the sleeves of his turtleneck on his forearms.

“Anything is fine, actually. I’ve lived on very little for years.”

“I can tell. You need someone to take care of you, and you need to get out more. You should stop by the club sometime. Better yet, come to the Halloween party this year.” He set about frying strips of bacon and heated up the waffle iron. “DeeDee said you used to be quite the dancer before…well. It’s still there, inside you. You just need to let it loose again.”
