Eron didn’t like Bob’s scowl. “Yes.”
“Your shot,” Bob said to Dennis, his voice quiet.
Eron grimaced at the ground as he walked with the rest of the group to the next ball. “Did I offend you?”
Bob stopped and turned around. “Not at all.”
“Bob,” Dennis chided.
“I’m sorry, but you know how I feel, Denny.”
“It’s not for us to judge. Let it go.”
“What’s wrong?” Garrett asked. He moved closer to Eron.
“Nothing, he’ll be fine. Don’t ruin the morning, dear,” Dennis said.
“What is wrong?” Eron demanded.
“Listen, Denny’s right, we barely know you. It’s not for me to judge. I wouldn’t choose to be homosexual if I had to. But we’re not ruining other people’s lives by being together. We’ve seen too many men go down the path you’re headed, and it never ends well.”
No one said anything as Dennis hacked at the ball.
“I should have kept my mouth shut, but I just hate to see two nice guys not be happy,” Bob said as they trudged on to Garrett’s ball.
