Chapter 64

Evan simply smiled. “What brings you to this neck of the woods, Loren?” His nerves turned to a dead calm as he felt a familiar voice catch hold in his mind.

::I’m here, Evan.::

He smiled inwardly, wondering how Morgan had figured out telepathy was a vampire trick.

“You know why I’m here,” Loren replied. His grin turned into an all-too-familiar scowl. “Where is Morgan?”

Evan shrugged. “Your guess is as good as mine. I haven’t seen him since this mess ended.” He waved his arm around at the courtyard, emphasizing his point.

Loren’s scowl deepened. “Then maybe a little work is in order to draw him out. I don’t think you would be so calm if he were dead.”

Elissa stepped up to Evan. Moments later, several others had Evan’s arms pinned behind him, and they shoved him to his knees. Another ripped his shirt off his body, exposing his naked, scarred skin.
