Chapter 66

“I was born in 1541 in Cardiff, Wales. In truth, I was never meant to be. No one knew the single child who was supposed to have been William was, in fact, two until we were born. I was much smaller and nearly died a few times as a result. William and I were sixteen when our parents died. We were living in London at the time. Once they were gone, he and I went back to Wales, to the tower.”

Morgan leaned on the rail beside him. Evan continued.

“When we were twenty-three, we went to a small town called Merydd. While we were there, I ran into Lord Stockton’s son John. There was an instant attraction. Before I left that night, we made love. For the next month or so, we met in his room at night. The last time I saw him, I tied him to a support beam in the stables before I left and gave him the cut you saw on his wrist. I told him then he was mine. The captain of the guard nearly caught me. I still have the scar on my thigh to prove it.”
