But Mark is a little bit right when he says Jamie’s afraid. Not of his feelings, God, no. And not of what anyone might think or say when they find out he likes Thad. No, he’s more afraid of losing what he has with Thad for what he wants instead. He has a great friend; he wants more. Will Thad give it to him? There’s so much in Thad’s life holding him back—his parents, his upbringing, himself. If Jamie offers to take things to the next level, will Thad be the one too afraid to follow? The wrong word, the wrong moment, and Thad will turn Jamie away.
And Jamie isn’t going to let that happen.
