Chapter 16

One thing about running thirteen miles and change—it’s kind of boring. You start with a big crowd of people and chat to the ones around you. You laugh at the crazy people in the fancy dress costumes. But then you’re off and soon there isn’t much breath for chatting. I started with the rest of the Running Queens, but we all had our own pace and we were soon well spread out through the crowds of runners.

So then it’s just you and the road. And Freddie and the boys, of course. I had the Platinum collection on shuffle and there’s over three hours of music there. More than enough as I expected to hit the finish line around two hours. Under two hours would be a great result for me.
