Chapter 11

Unfortunately, as soon as Jake exited the lunch line, he noticed she wasn’t sitting by herself. Evan was with her, damn. His back was to Jake, but Jake would recognize that slicked-down hair and nerdy T-shirt over long johns anywhere. What did Holly see in him, anyway?

“Not much,” Jake muttered to himself.

At that moment, Holly looked up and spotted him. Half-rising from her seat, she waved.

Jake let his gaze drift past her as if he didn’t notice. No waywas he sitting with Evan. Holly would leave for class and Evan would stay behind, geekishly snickering at every little thing Jake said. Why couldn’t the dude get a clue? I don’t like you,Jake thought, moving toward an empty seat as far away as possible from his roommate and her dorky friend. Guys like me don’t date guys like you. Period.
