Chapter 29

“Fuck you!” Ryan said. “Y’all are gonna be listening to me for once.”

Turning back to Tim, Ryan continued in calm voice as though it were only the two of them in the room. “Those who didn’t give it up freely, James took it by force. He must have worked his way through the whole senior class! The only reason he’d waited so long with you and Watkins was because you guys are high profile. But it was just a matter of time before he’d take a part of your lives, too, just like he did everyone else’s he touched.”

“Why didn’t you do something, Ryan? Try to stop him?” Tom accused.

“Fuck you, Watkins! Not only does his family own the town and everyone in it, but they can ruin you and your family in one hour.” Walking up to James, Ryan stared him dead in the eyes. “It was always much easier to just let him than to resist.”

“You know it, baby,” Brandon said.

“You guys give me too much credit,” James said, feigning flattery.
