Thor collapsed on top of Allison, pushing the man he had just vanquished into the cushions.
After a few moments, he withdrew his softening organ and stood. Allison curled up into a ball, covering his face with his hands. Thor knew what must happen next. When the captain responded in this way, Thor would be dismissed, not required to spend the night cradling the pitiable creature as was sometimes the case. He would dress and exit without a word, leaving the captain to his guilt and repentance. He would not be called again until Captain Allison’s need once again overcame his piety: until desires of the flesh subdued the resistance of the spirit. Thor looked back one last time as he got to the cabin door. Captain Allison was struggling to pull up his trousers. He did not look in Thor’s direction. The seaman felt a pang of pity before closing the door behind him as he left.
