Chapter 14

“As much as we,” Miguel said as he looked at Thor once more, “would like to say yes to that invitation, we have been ordered back aboard by nightfall. We sail on the morning tide.”

Jenkins looked surprised. “But you have just arrived I was told. Why does your captain feel the need for rushing back out to sea?”

Miguel looked uncomfortable. Thor wondered what the boatswain would say.

“I do not know the answer to that question, Tom,” Miguel replied. “I only know it is Captain Allison’s wish The Alexandria sail as expediently as possible.”

“You are aware The Dragon has been sighted sailing near here?” Jenkins queried.

Miguel nodded.

“Would it not be more prudent to wait until he has sailed to other waters?”

He? Thor thought, Why does Tom refer to a ship as he.? They are usually considered ‘she’.

“It would,” Miguel said with a sigh. “But I am not the captain and what I say holds no weight.”
