Chapter 26

After our showers, snifters of brandy, and light conversation, he asked, “You want to do a sleepover with me, Daron?”

I didn’t even have to think about it since Colm had officially attached himself to Melinda Moretell, out of my mind and life. No longer did my heart feel obligated to the man, even if his massage a few weeks ago just happened to get out of hand and temporarily made me happy. His personalized kiss-gift for me seemed unimportant now that every news channel in the city proclaimed him Melinda’s serious beau. The writer for Against the Matno longer held a position in my life.

Those details alone caused me to move forward and not look back, beginning a new life without Colm Frost, unable to waste a moment longer worrying about the man. I became a free agent almost overnight in the dating world, available and ready for whatever else could and would come my way.

I answered Brett with, “I’d like to do a sleepover with you. Thanks for asking.”

“Good. That makes me happy.”
