Chapter 51

“Step one, completed,” Caiden murmured. “Now for step two, and pray we get lucky.”

He said almost the same thing to Theirn as soon as he got home that evening.

“Yes!” Theirn pumped a fist in the air, earning him an amused laugh from Caiden. Then, much to Caiden’s shock, Theirn hugged him. “I…I didn’t mean to do that,” Theirn said seconds later, backing away.

“Under the circumstances, I understand. I was excited too, after hearing from Styles.”

Theirn turned away, starting toward the kitchen with a muttered, “Supper’s almost ready.”

Caiden took hold of Theirn’s arm to stop him. “Never be afraid of showing your feelings.”

“Like it would do any good.”

Caiden looked at him for a long moment, then sighed. “I’m not worth it, Theirn.”

“Isn’t that for me to decide,” Theirn retorted tightly.

“Not when it concerns both of us.”

“I see. So the fact I like you, more than just as a friend…The fact I might be beginning to care for you…”
