“Are you sure?”

“No. I was teasing,” Theirn replied with a touch of asperity. “Yes, damn it, I’m sure. All I could think of, while you were gone, was how much I wanted you home again so we could finally—” he sucked in a breath, “—make love instead of dancing around the idea.”

Caiden smiled ruefully. “We havebeen doing that. As if we were afraid to take the final step to committing ourselves to this relationship. No, not ‘we’. Me.” He took Theirn’s hands, kissing the palm of each one. “It’s time Istopbeing afraid.”

“It is. This, us, together, was meant to be.” Theirn laughed softly. “That was pretty hokey, but it’s true, I think.”

“I know it is,” Caiden replied. “So…” He glanced at the bed that took up one corner of the small apartment. Still holding Theirn’s hands, Caiden backed up until his knees hit the foot of the bed.

“It might be easier,” Theirn pointed out, when Caiden just stood there, looking at him, “if we got undressed.”
