Chapter 9

Good old Cyrus called, as regular as Edna on Ex-Lax. I got him on his way, took his flight note, and handled the rest of the shift in good order. I was excited to think my worldly possessions would be arriving tomorrow, except for my truck. Then, I got bummed out, knowing I hadn’t found a place to live yet. I looked at a few places, but really wasn’t too impressed, so I decided to swallow my pride and called Brett.

“Sweet! I’ll reschedule my booking for this afternoon so I can show you the place. I’m sure you’ll like it. As an incentive, first month’s rent is free if you lease for a year.”
