No sooner does flight service specialist Sam Hare take up his post in Elk Pond than he’s warned to watch out for handsome pilot brothers Brett and Randy Edmond. As he settles into his new job and gets to know Brett better, his meddlesome landlady is taking bets on which brother he’ll fall for. When Sam finds out about the wager, he’s furious and humiliated and decides to resign. But a serious accident sends him and the brothers on a rescue mission, drawing them closer together.<br><br>Then Sam’s best friend Mike comes to visit and falls in love with Randy. In the meantime, Brett’s relationship with Sam deepens. Suddenly it isn’t so easy for Sam to leave town. With clear skies ahead, will Sam stay grounded in Elk Pond or will he take flight?

“I told the regional office about what happened here today. They don’t want to lose you, so if you can wait a week or two, they will get a replacement here, and you can choose whatever site they have open as your new base. Just so you know I’d hate to lose you. And not only because of how you handled the situation today. You bring a spark to the place that we haven’t had for ages.”


I thanked Robbie, and caught a cab to the motel. The driver didn’t charge me for the trip. As I got out, I saw Brett get out of his car and walk my way. The man was incredibly gorgeous, even when I was totally pissed off at him.


“I don’t know what I did to offend you, but I wanted to apologize, and to thank you for what you did for Cyrus today. That was beyond smart, getting those overflying planes to triangulate. Where did you learn that?”


I sighed. “I’d just like to get in and settled for now. Thanks for coming by. I’m glad it worked out for Cyrus.”
