“Have we decided what entrees we’re having?” he asked, looking only at Eric as he spoke. The guy was young, probably in his early twenties, and good-looking in a fresh-faced college guy kind of way. His hair was sandy brown, and he was short, but fit.

“No,” Eric told him. “I think we need a little more time.”

“Do you have any questions about the menu? I could make some recommendations.”

Andrew rattled off the specials before praising the pulled pork and cedar-planked salmon dishes on the menu. I don’t believe he took his eyes off of Eric during his entire spiel.

“How about an appetizer to start?” he asked. This time, he didlook at me with a huge smile, as if he’d just remembered I was there.

“No, thanks,” I told him. “Just give us a minute, okay?”

“Certainly, sir,” he said before backing away and going to check on his other tables.

“I think he likes you,” I told Eric as we watched Andrew walk away.

“I think you’re right.”

“I’m a little jealous.”
