My back ached as I rose to my feet, and I silently cursed myself for rushing to Eric’s apartment in the wee hours of the morning rather than staying home and getting a good night’s sleep in my own bed. I probably wouldn’t have gotten much sleep at home anyway because worrying about Eric would have kept me awake. We’d only been seeing each other for a few weeks, and he was already causing me to lose sleep. Gary warned me that Eric fell very fast and very hard for people. Clearly, he wasn’t the only one.
