Chapter 5

“When you’re horny again, maybe he’ll suddenly be back to being hot.”

I chuckled. “Maybe. If I wasn’t so nervous about this job interview, I’d probably be horny now.”

“Good luck with that,” Colin said.

“Thanks. Catch ya later.”

The interview went well. At least I hoped it had. I answered all the questions articulately and the principal seemed impressed with the references from my AU professors. I decided to stroll down the hallway of the high school wing for old time’s sake afterward—down memory lane—just to see what looked familiar. I stopped at my old locker and turned the tumbler. Fourteen, twenty-six, nine. That was my combination senior year. Surely they had—Son of a gun! The thing opened. Maybe they changed them occasionally, but had come around again to the one I’d had. That made me feel old.
