I made my response sound as indifferent as I possibly could. “Why should you be sorry? We’re nothing to each other, remember? I wanted something permanent, but that’s not your thing. So you can do whomever you’d like, whenever you’d like, wherever you’d like. I suppose it was my fault for not waiting to hear you say ‘come in’ before opening the door to see Nigel riding your dick like it was a prize pony.” I attempted a shrug. “It’s your office, and you’re part owner of this company. I only work here. It means nothing to me.”

Or, at least, it shouldn’t.

“What do you mean, you only work here?”

I looked up at the anger I heard in his voice all of a sudden.

“Well, it’s true. What’s the problem?”

What was his deal, and why were we having this conversation?

“Are you trying to make me feel guilty?”
