“Those assholes really did it,” DX said.

“They’re being so stupid and mean!” She rushed the rest of the way inside, hoping no one in the van had noticed her, and that they wouldn’t have time to get to Tina. “That thing about never having told my parents to fuck off?” Bonnie muttered.

“Yeah?”

Without Ilana, Tina wouldn’t have made it into the clerk’s office. The world just about swam before her eyes. She was rushing to get inside before the news cameras realized who she was, rushing to find the right office, rushing to organize the papers Ilana handed her—the all-important key to making today work out.

The line for the clerk was a little longer than Tina would have liked. Ilana guided her to a particular spot on the floor, and Tina felt so grateful that she could just stand here and rest for a moment.
