Mankind’s Evolution Frontier

"The… Mankind… Evolution Frontier?"

As she looked out the window of a helicopter soaring above the skies, the trees' leaves flew off their branches and were guided to the Heavens as the moon's light left a bright glow onto the darkened chopper. The higher they ascended, the faster the propellers spun, and just then, as it popped above the clouds, she could see it in all its glory. The wondrous scenery of the moon just at arm's length, the dark-blue tint of the heavens she was surrounded by, even a stray pigeon flew by, leading her to chuckle happily.

At the moment, she enjoyed her trip among the stars with a hearty smile right over her lips, even the guards were unable to keep their stoic expressions tight over their features. Though they were all confined to the insides of this avian vehicle, it was such an experience that she was unable to remember what world she belonged to… in this abstract time, in this 'other reality' where the stars lurked in every corner; she truly felt at peace,

"Catchy, doncha think? Formed to meet the criteria of those who wish to alter the framework of society and create a new world under the administration of the Foretold Founder. We'll talk more when you arrive, can't wait to see you again, Kel. Bye-bye,"

Wheels unlocking out the copter's belly, the wind pushing outward so their hairs would move with the flow, the moon shining onto their faces, there the two stood. It was a huge location... right before her eyes, reflecting against her brunette-shaded pupils, it was the Pentagon. Going at 6 million square feet, more copters flying out from the pads embedded onto the buildings' rooftops, guards and workers stepping around, some with white coats guiding around their back feet. A normal girl like her among a Titan's shadow leaking unto her person, but that wasn't the very thing she was interested in, it was the other two that stood in front of the area's entrance.

Callum, both hands behind his back, coat stretched over his shoulders, the summer heat sent itchiness unable to be scratched down his back. Groaning at the feeling, he shook his head while Rizia placed a single hand on their partner's shoulder. What they were given next was a gentle smile flying off their lips to the Foretold Founder, who nodded right ahead, and grinned directly back at his attendant. Facing ahead once more, a sharp inhale seethed through his mouth sliding into his chest, feeling it rise and expand then sink gradually, his red-eye met her black-shaded ones as Kelly exited. Momentarily taking the hand of the escort guard, sole tapping against the concrete, palm over her forehead, she gazed above as the summer sun shined against her pale skin.

Shielding her vision from the blinding illumination of the star in the clear sky, suit-donning guards guided her to their Founder, shades over their eyes. As they finally met face to face, after a year of abandonment, Kelly glared at him, just by a few inches, she was towering over him; how ironic,

"Why have you called me here? What the hell is the Evolution Frontier? After a year... What do you want with me?" She angrily asked, grabbing at the disgruntled collar of his shirt, the blonde's voice on the verge of breaking as her lip trembled.

Rizia idle as ever, the guards stepping back to reconvene near the copter, Callum stared with that singular crimson pupil right into her brunette-shaded orbs. In a way, in this sunlight, so bright and radiant in the dawn of summertime, her eyes were so beautiful,

"I need you, Kel. You were by my side for so long... the only reason I did what I did was that I didn't want to bring you into this cycle. This world isn't easy, I wanted... I wanted to protect you, and if I'd done it any other way, you'd just push me; but I couldn't allow that. Now, that time is over, and it's right. My dream has never been so close to coming to fruition, and I intend to truly grab it with both hands. The framework of this corrupt society needs to be altered, however, there is one fact that is unavoidable in this world about this horrible Elite. So, please, follow me, Kel, my darling," As he suggested this with a soothing vocalization added to his usual chords, he spun around, and immediately, she was following with Kosuke by his side with her blackened coat moving behind her ankles.

Inside the Pentagon, within an elevator, Callum, still with his hands behind his back, had been at the forefront of the metal doors waiting to open. Rizia stood close to the abundance of numbers leading to the plethora of floors, located at the right-hand side of the doorway, and Kel, being at the left corner of this chamber, was unable to glimpse where exactly they were headed. They were heading down, she could feel from this descending feeling, but... what was this sensation she was experiencing? In the back of her head, despite whatever intuition she had that they were heading down, it was wrong, and truly, as the doors opened; the truth was revealed.

What she had expected was something like some highly advanced basement, maybe some computers or servers illuminating the server with a distinct light. It was the exact opposite, for when Cal and Rizia exited, it was a lengthened table stretching out with an engraving stabbed into the center, with circling windows pointing outward to the metropolis it was looking over. There was no one at this table, but as Kelly stepped out the elevator, Cal took his seat at the head, with Rizia sitting to his right, Rivers patted the cushion to the chair to his left. Hesitantly pushing her bottom against the chair, she interlocked her fingers all together, she carefully placed them in her lap, and after doing so, was met with an amused chuckle. Looking up so her eyes could gaze upon his chortling figure, she clenched her teeth together,

"What're you laughin' at?" She asked with a snarl in her voice,

"Ahahaha... ah, it's nothing, just something I noticed, I guess. Whenever you do that thing you just did, putting your fingers together so awkwardly, uh, you do it when you're nervous about something," He observed, pushing his thumb against his forehead once more, which Rizia followed, then Kelly... albeit nervously with her fingers shaking,

"This is the symbol for our little frontier, we will be gathering enhanced individuals disregarded by the Government and feeding them liberation. The very essence of evolution, growing from an insignificant status beneath the boot of the Elite and now sitting at the new front of mankind's fresh revolution. The goal of our group will be to revolutionize the world and thereby activate the New Era of Humanity's Reign, which... has already begun," Callum nodded to Riz, who pushed against her watch, and what followed was a hologram of the news, floating over the table for them all to see.

A news chopper's view of an island came to view, with Callum smirking, a thumb sliding over a single knuckle, Rizia watched as Kel stood stunned. The banner below had read the following: 'Unnatural island just discovered off the coast of Texas.' Her eyes widened, out of breath as she stared upon this sight... but the hologram shut right off before more information could be given by the newscaster. Turning to Rizia who slid her sleeve over her wristwatch, then her eyes meeting Cal's crimson orb, he leaned forward on both backs of his hands,

"That is our beginning, that island will soon be my holy land in which I will build my church. Riverton. I have my suspicions about it, so the lambs to the slaughter will feed my curiosity. Whether or not my suspicions turn out to be true or not, it all depends on that first trip. If it's true, we set sail for it following them," He informed, to which Kel rose a brow upright at his wording,

"Them..?" She asked.

His finger, three extremities hidden by a darkened glove, pointed to the window row to her skull's rear, and just like that, she stepped out of the chair to stand right before the transparent barriers. Somehow, someway, they were right off the coast of the Atlantic, and she was able to capture that scenery. Three military boats heading right for it, that island, sent out by Congress to discover this paranormal phenomenon,

"What the hell...?"

They were gone. The boats had vanished. But how? They were just riding over the sea's calmed flow, but they'd disappeared? Well, there was no splash following this, so they weren't bombed. And there were no signs of sinking, so... how? That was the question, right? How it could have vanished when the whole world was watching? But that was the thing- even the world had been disconnected from this, as the news chapter could've been visible from this distance, however, that, too, was gone,

"What just happened?"

Standing right beside her with a sinister smirk peeling over his lips, hands cupped behind his back, he held a menacing laugh within his chest, before letting the words discharge,

"It's a dimensional barrier, is what it is. That island is an Artifact from the Old World that does not exist in the same dimensional plane as we do, and so, we are unable to enter its bounds. Doing so would immediately make you invisible to any of those who could look at Riverton with binoculars... long story short, it's arrived. An Incarnated Artifact leftover from the Old World, sure enough, there exist relics there that can aid in my ascension. Rizia, make a plan for departing, we leave August 1st... I already have an idea for our first preparation," Callum demanded of his partner, patting them on the shoulder, he kissed at their forehead while Kelly followed after him as he strutted away to the elevator,

"W-Wait! I... I still have no idea what's even happening here! Where are you going?!" Kelly screamed, aching for an explanation, witness to him halting right in his tracks... before he turned to her, gazing between the strands to stare at her attractive features.

Slamming his fist into his open fist, he smirked happily, feeling his scarred skin scrape against the glove's fabric of his left hand, it was almost as though... his red-eye seemed to illuminate a familiar shade of crimson,

"I'm going to throw a monster at these damned demons and crush this corrupt society by any means necessary, thereby destroying the ranks and hierarchy so we can start anew on my Paradise. And to do that, I need an army. So, Kel, come with me and see the candidates for our Evolution Frontier against those pitiful Elite..." Callum declared with a hateful rasp at the climax of his speech's end audible in his vocals, entering the elevator, those doors spread open, with her on the other side, she sighed,

"This is happening, isn't it...? Your revolution; it's not a dream anymore," She whispered regretfully.

As she stood by his side, he shook his head and chuckled. Paradise was in view and so was his goal, as she stared upon his deformed frame, his head tilted upward as if looking to the sky for a hopeful view. It was never there, he was confined to this global prison, in an endless search for freedom that seemed to never be in reach; to break free from this cycle and bring down this world, it would require a will of steel and the gut of a beast. Yet, he was here, despite those necessities, standing at the same level of Gods, but they could never understand the truth of it all, as to how far above he was. His shine upon her soul was that of the sun's glow on those ants God called His disciples, it was that of a Hawk's wing stretched out like a Griffin's soaring over the land... he truly was the Foretold Founder. And with those words, a secret war had been enacted beneath their very noses as Callum Rivers cried to the invisible world that deemed his being below their notice...

"They'll all die..."

And thus continues the story of justice.

To Be Continued.
