“And when worlds…Okay, that was going to be very cliché.”

“Yeah, it would have been.” Griffin hugged him then pointed to the half-empty bag, so Daniel finished packing, feeling better about doing so.

When they got back downstairs, after closing the windows they’d opened on the second floor, Mr. Leeds was just coming in the front door. He held a thick pad filled, from what Daniel could see of it, with a raft of notes.

“I can tell you for starters that we can repair all the damage, bringing the house up to code again. You’ll need a new furnace, which we can get, and install for you after the rest of the work is finished. Luckily for you, the water heater and all the electrical connections are at the far end of the basement from where the explosion occurred.”

“How long do you think it will take?” Daniel asked.
