Chapter 42

“Because we belong together,” Daniel replied, hugging Griffin when he pulled out to lie beside him. “Like peas in a pod.”

“The moon and the stars.”

“Summer and sun.”

“Like, umm,” Griffin frowned. “Peanut butter and jelly.”

“I am a bit sticky,” Daniel said with a happy laugh.

“Just a bit,” Griffin agreed, touching Daniel’s chest. “Shower time.”

They managed to shower together without turning it into another bout of sex. After drying off, they put on jeans—and at Daniel’s suggestion—got beer from the fridge and settled down on the sofa. “Because I’m too wide awake to sleep,” he said.

“Still coming down from the excitement?” Griffin asked.

“More like finally realizing it’s over.” Daniel worried the corner of his lip between his teeth. “And wondering what comes next.”

“With us?”

Daniel nodded. “We’ve saida lot of things, but can we make them work? I can’t move out of the house. I won’t. Not when it would mean it gets torn down and the land becomes a dump.”
