Chapter 7

“Oh, no. He’s been acting so weird lately. He’s probably embarrassed at my feelings for him, and…”

“Hey, hold up. That’s not what I meant. You’ve got it all wrong.”

Before Val could argue his point further, the doors opened and customers streamed in, looking for a good time.

I decided to make myself scarce. “I gotta go.”

I disappeared into the back, knowing I could find enough odd jobs to keep me away from the floor and Pierre, unless I was needed for something in particular. I ended up cleaning the private rooms twice and counting synthetic blood bags three times before I decided that enough was enough.

I had to confront Pierre and apologize for any embarrassment I may have caused him. He didn’t deserve that, and I owed him everything, something I didn’t take lightly. Thus decided, I went in search of my boss. It was after midnight and the place was a wall-to-wall frenzy.
