“You don’t have to tell me, obviously, but have you gone any further than a bit of making out?”

“No.”

“Then I suggest you do discuss the matter,” Ellen said. “You need to know what Jude’s thinking. Is he experienced with boys?”

“No, I don’t think so. He said I’m the first boy he’s ever crushed on, and he said he wasn’t sure until I told him I’m trans that he was going to be able to get to the sex part with me anyway, ‘cause he’s only been with girls.”

“Then you need to discuss it,” Ellen repeated. “He may be thinking of you sexually as a girl, imagining engaging in heterosexual acts with you—and if you’re comfortable with that, then fine. But if you want to engage in acts more common to homosexual boys than a heterosexual couple, then you need to discuss that. Jude may not be keen on the idea of having any attention reciprocated.”

“You mean anal,” Anton said, wrinkling his nose.
