“Thanks,” he said.
“Anytime. If you don’t hit me again, seriously, what is up with your hitting hand…”

Jude stuck close for most of the day, and Anton was grateful for it. Walsh kept making remarks, just little sly comments here and there that had Anton jumpy, and by the time PE rolled around that afternoon, even Jude was starting to get a bit arsey about it. “Just don’t start a fight in the changing rooms,” Anton had asked before heading to the bathroom to change, and Jude had pulled a face that was a long way from a promise to do as he was told.
Only apparently even that break was enough, because when Anton was changed, he walked right out of the bathroom into Walsh.
“Er.”
“Why don’t you change with the rest of us.”
Anton gritted his teeth. “What’s your problem?”
“My problem is there’s something funny about you, and my best mate’s involved.”
