Chapter 8

Letty panted as they went up through a small gorge, on the southern bank of a mountain stream. The climbing was a bit grueling there and she paused in her story a few times to get surer footing, or to twist through the tangle of trees. The forest on either side of the gorge was near impenetrable with underbrush, although Logan assured them that it would thin out again shortly. The higher up the mountain they got, the less the trees and underbrush would bother them.

“Great,” Brandon said. He wanted nothing more than to be out of the thick woods. Especially in light of Letty’s story, which inexplicably had given him a massive case of the creeps.
