Chapter 22

Orr had a hard time rationalizing the glum feeling that came over him as he watched Jase and his rental disappear down the road. Shit, he had no business expecting his originally unwelcome guest to hang around and keep him company while he nursed the stupid fucked-up knee. That was dumber than dirt.

He certainly couldn’t provide much in the way of entertainment now, and it would be at least a couple of weeks before even he would try to get back in the saddle again, much less head out into the wilds. By then Jase’s vacation time would be over, wasted and idled away with nothing to show for it. So why did he feel like his best friend had bailed on him? That was a bunch of bullshit.
