Chapter 77

“Very well, enjoy your day, sir,” Basil said a bit more rudely than Leander minded.

After they had gone, Leander admonished Basil. “You could’ve been more polite. It was an innocent coincidence that they appeared here. I’m surprised we haven’t run into them before.”

“Well, why aren’t they in a gentleman’s pub across town? I can’t believe Kent is hanging out with his brother-in-law in a place like this.”

“What is wrong with you? You act as if Kent is following us and his whole purpose was to ruin your afternoon.”

“Oh, let’s go.” Basil wiped his mouth and tossed his napkin on his plate. He threw some coins on the table, twice as many as were needed to pay the bill. He jumped out of his seat before Leander could protest. Leander finished chewing the food in his mouth, then got up slowly to find Basil waiting for him outside. 50
