Chapter 24

Rex pulled up to the ticket dispenser and took one without comment. As he rounded the first curve, he asked, “Where to?”

“Third floor, corner on the east side.” He twisted his hands in his lap. The garage was not used much. In fact, over the years there had been speculation that the owners would shut it down. The fact that people, mostly gay men, came here for hookups was fairly well known, which was another reason Jude thought it might close one day.

On the first floor there had been a few cars, even less on the second, and by the time they got to the third and final floor it was like a ghost town. The hookups happened mostly at night since the garage was open twenty-four hours. It appeared they had free reign in the area Jude directed Rex to park. No other cars.

Rex turned off the car, glanced around, and then faced Jude. “What do you have in mind?”
