“Luke…” Finn shook his head. “If we’re going to make things work between us, you—no—we both have to realize there will be times when we feel like we’re screwing with each other’s lives to some extent. It happens, but we can’t let it change how we interact. We can’t start feeling guilty about it. Does that make sense?”
Luke nodded. “Perfect sense. But hard to do sometimes, I think.”
Smiling, Finn replied, “If it was easy, there wouldn’t be a problem in the first place. Right?”
“Yeah. How come you’re so wise about things like this? Never mind. I know the answer. You’ve lived long enough to have learned them.”
“I have.” Finn smirked. “Now I’m passing my hard earned knowledge on to you.”
Luke laughed. “Yes. Grandpa.”
“Good Lord.” Finn rolled his eyes, then kissed Luke. “Is thissomething your grandpa would do?”
“He hadn’t better.” Luke sobered. “And he wouldn’t even think about doing it. He was even more homophobic than my father. Which is saying something.”
