“She said no,” said Travis, taking a swig from his bottle. “She’s just a gas station cashier—I’m a catch.”

“Your interview,” said Dom, expecting the worst.

Travis shrugged. “All right.”

Dom moved over and fell into the couch, tilted his head back against the backrest. Travis had been here so long Dom was beginning to feel defeated just dealing with him. He’d never pay them back, either. Dom wondered what he’d have to do to make this up to Kiko.

“I was hoping for more than that,” said Dom.

“It was all right. The place looked like it sucked, but the work’s easy. Third shift earns a lot more than first, too.”

“Did you get the job?”
