“But I don’t have to go back to work,” Brady joked. “I can start drinking now and be thoroughly soused by the time I get to my parents’ this evening.”

Micah faltered in mid-step. Behind him, Brady gave him a small push. “Keep going,” Brady growled.

“Tonight?” Micah hoped his voice didn’t squeak when he spoke. So much for his plans. “Where do your parents live?”

“About an hour south of here.” Brady elbowed his way past Micah to cut in front of him and Jonathan. “You guys are going way too slow. I have to hit the road before rush hour or my mother won’t let me hear the end of it.”

Micah exchanged a quick look with Jonathan. “I thought…” he started softly.

Jonathan simply shrugged.
